Tour Description
This 22-day Sri Lanka tour itinerary blends the island’s quiet coasts, rich northern heritage, and classic wildlife parks. You begin in Negombo and unwind on the beaches of Kalpitiya, then head to Wilpattu National Park for a safari. The journey continues north to Mannar and Jaffna for fort history and relaxed seaside time, before turning east to Nilaveli and Pigeon Island for clear-water snorkelling, then on to Pasikuda and Arugam Bay. After a Gal Oya safari, you cool down in the Ella highlands with famous viewpoints and a scenic train ride, then track wildlife again on a Yala safari. The final stretch is pure coastal Sri Lanka: Weligama Beach and whale watching, Galle Fort and Unawatuna, the Hikkaduwa coral reef, a Bentota riverboat safari, water sports near Beruwala, and a final Colombo city tour before departure.
Tour Route
Key Destinations
Day 1 – Arrival in Sri Lanka (Negombo)
Arrive at Bandaranaike International Airport, where your Chauffeur Guide will meet you with a warm Sri Lankan welcome. Sit back and relax as you travel to Negombo, a quiet coastal town close to the airport. Settle into your hotel and enjoy a calm evening by the sea after your long journey.
Day 2 & 3 – Kalpitiya Beach
After breakfast, the journey heads north from Negombo to Kalpitiya — a calm and unspoilt stretch of coast known for its wild beaches and open skies. The next two days are spent at leisure on the Kalpitiya Sand Route, with a range of optional activities available, including kitesurfing, kayaking, snorkelling, scuba diving, reef fishing, and dolphin watching, subject to sea conditions.
Day 4 – Wilpattu Safari
After breakfast, the journey continues to Wilpattu National Park for a jeep safari. Sri Lanka's largest national park is a vast landscape of natural lakes, known locally as villus, open woodland, and dry forest — home to leopards, elephants, sloth bears, deer, and a wide variety of birdlife. Overnight stay at a nearby hotel.
Day 5 – Mannar Beach
After breakfast, the journey continues north to Mannar. A historic coastal town shaped by centuries of sea trade and colonial history. If time allows, a visit to Mannar Fort offers a fascinating glimpse into the town's Portuguese and Dutch past. Overnight stay in Mannar.
Day 6 & 7 – Jaffna
After breakfast, the journey heads to Jaffna — Sri Lanka's northernmost city and a destination of rich history, vibrant local culture, and quiet coastal charm. A short city tour takes in Jaffna Fort and the magnificent Nallur Kovil, one of the most important Hindu temples in the country. The late afternoon is best spent at KKS Beach or Casuarina Beach, where soft sand and gentle waves offer a peaceful end to the day. Two overnight stays in Jaffna.
Day 8 & 9 – Nilaveli Beach
After Jaffna, spend the next two days on Sri Lanka’s East Coast at Nilaveli Beach, Trincomalee. This quiet beach is known for its soft white sand, clear blue water, and a calm, relaxed feel that suits a slow beach stay. The must-do experience here is a short boat trip to Pigeon Island National Park, one of the best places for snorkelling in Sri Lanka, with coral reefs, colourful reef fish, and, in good conditions, possible sightings of sea turtles.
Day 10 – Pasikuda Beach
After Nilaveli, enjoy two nights in Pasikuda Beach, one of the most relaxing stops on Sri Lanka’s east coast. Pasikuda is known for its calm, shallow sea and wide sandy bay, which makes it ideal for easy swimming and slow beach days. Popular activities in Pasikuda include snorkelling, kayaking, paddleboarding, and sunset walks, depending on the sea conditions.
Day 11 & 12 – Arugam Bay Beach
After an early breakfast, the journey heads to Gal Oya National Park for a boat safari — watching elephants wade along the lake edge from the water is a rare and memorable experience. The afternoon continues to Arugam Bay, Sri Lanka's most celebrated surf beach, for two days of relaxed coastal living.
Day 13 & 14 – Ella
After breakfast, the journey continues to Ella — one of Sri Lanka's most loved hill country towns. En route, a stop at Ravana Falls offers a dramatic introduction to the highlands, with an optional zipline for those seeking a different view of the valley. In Ella, a hike up Little Adam's Peak and a visit to the iconic Nine Arch Bridge are the highlights of the first day. The second day is spent at a slower pace — cool air, café culture, short nature walks, and a scenic train ride through the lush green hills. Two overnight stays in Ella.
Day 15 – Tissamaharama
After breakfast, the journey heads to Yala National Park for a jeep safari. One of Sri Lanka's finest wildlife destinations, Yala offers strong chances of spotting leopards, elephants, crocodiles, and deer, with rich birdlife around the lagoons adding to the experience. Overnight stay in Tissamaharama.
Day 16 & 17 – Mirissa Beach
Spend two days in Mirissa, a laid-back south coast beach town in Sri Lanka, where the morning often starts on the ocean. If you wish, join an early whale watching and dolphin watching boat trip for a chance to see blue whales, sperm whales, and playful dolphins (sightings depend on sea conditions and wildlife movement). Back on land, enjoy free time with optional visits to Secret Beach, Coconut Tree Hill, and the Mirissa sunset viewpoint, then end the day with the easy evening buzz of beach cafés, bars, and music.
Day 18 & 19 – Galle Beach
Head to Galle on Sri Lanka’s south coast, home to the Old Town of Galle and its Fortifications, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Walk the Galle Fort ramparts, pass the lighthouse, and explore the narrow streets lined with colonial-era buildings shaped over centuries. Use your free time to unwind on nearby beaches such as Unawatuna Beach and Hikkaduwa Beach, both easy to reach from Galle. Two overnight stays in Galle.
Day 20 – Beruwala Beach
Depart for Beruwala Beach for a fun day by the sea. Enjoy optional water sports along the coast, then slow the pace with a calm lagoon boat safari, a great way to spot birdlife and enjoy the scenery from the water.
Day 21 – Colombo
You will be transferred to Colombo, the commercial capital of Sri Lanka, for your final night. Enjoy the evening exploring the city, visiting shops, or relaxing at your hotel.
Day 22 – Departure
As your journey through Sri Lanka ends, you depart with warm memories and new stories to cherish. Your Chauffeur Guide will accompany you to the airport, where you will say your final goodbye to the island.
